Why Choose Us?
Since 1939 Crosbie Matthew Funeral Directors have been an independent family owned business in Fife.
We’re not a big chain, and don’t behave like one. Our service is caring and personal, tailored to your needs.
Our pricing structure is clear and there are no hidden costs. We will not sell you anything that you don’t want or need.
We have an honest and open approach to informing families about the location and care of their loved one at all times while they are with us. You are welcome to visit us to look around ‘behind the scenes’ if you wish to.
Trust
Our team have many years experience arranging funerals for families in Fife and beyond. We hold various qualifications in the funeral industry and dedicate ourselves to continuous improvement. More importantly families come back to us because they know we care. We respect your wishes and the dignity of the deceased at all times. Your personal data is in safe hands with us, please see our ‘PRIVACY NOTICE’
24 Hour Assistance
We do not use call centres. We have one Funeral Director and one or two Funeral Operatives on call out of hours every day of the year and every hour of the day. This ensures that your calls are taken personally by a trained member of staff whenever you need to contact us. We will make every effort to deal with your call immediately. We also check our emails frequently. At all times we will keep our appointments, at their agreed times, or telephone you to inform you of any changes.
Care of Deceased
We believe that the most important job we will do for you is look after your loved one from the moment we take them into our care, until the time when they have been laid to rest at the funeral. We promise to respect and maintain the dignity of the deceased at all times in between. You have the right to know exactly where the deceased is located and what care we will provide. If you wish to be involved in the care of your loved one, this can be arranged for you.
We belong to SAIF, Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors, a recognised trade association with a strict ‘CODE OF PRACTICE’. Our premises, procedures and paperwork are inspected annually to ensure we continue to exceed the required standard.
Costs
We are upfront and transparent on price. Feel free to use our ‘COST CALCULATOR‘ on the website. Take care to compare like for like when checking prices with other funeral directors. Getting it right is of utmost importance to us and our price is fully guaranteed.
At the time of arrangements, all costs will be explained in full by our Funeral Director with a written estimate and we ask for a deposit to be paid prior to the funeral.
The terms are different for our ‘Basic’ and ‘Unattended’ funerals, please see our price list (cost calculator/basic or unattended cost)
Premises
You are welcome to visit our premises to look around as we have nothing to hide. All our premises have excellent facilities where we can look after your loved one, from the moment they are entrusted into our care until the day of the funeral. This includes refrigeration, service rooms and viewing rooms.
Vehicles
We own a fleet of luxurious 2024 Mercedes-Benz E Class E200, two hearses and three limousines, which give us complete flexibility with timings and days. We are able to provide other forms of transport if required such as a horse-drawn hearse or motorbike hearse.

These are included as part of our professional services (up to a certain number). We have a large selection of templates for you to choose from (see our brochures/order of service); you can give us your own bespoke layout or we can design one together.
